And now you have mentioned it, I&#039;ve just remembered that Scottish poppies are different to the ones you see in the rest of the UK - with four petals and no green leaf. I am not 100% sure why this is so but I seem to recall a claim that it cost £15K less to not have the green leaf (as well as being &#039;botanically correct&#039;).
I just find it rather fascinating a symbol, and particularly the idea that it was designed with the idea of disabled workers assembling it.</description>

Another cultural difference - Canadian poppies are quite different from the ones in the UK. Colour is the same, but ours are made of a plastic material with a velvety finish on the front and a small green or black velvet piece in the centre. Ours also has four &#039;petals&#039; and is bigger. Anyhooo, these subtle cultural differences are interesting.
