Humphrey Jennings shows us the power of cinema and the impact it can have on us all. It is hard to appreciate the radical nature of its impact in these documentary saddled days, and even harder to comprehend what he might have achieved given another 20 years of life. Who says that film makers cannot be heroes? He is one of mine. Excellent article Sian.

Yes I want to see this! I have seen Listen to Britain before, it's quite something. There was a really interesting (I think it may have been BBC Wales but I could easily be wrong) documentary on The Silent Village/Humphrey Jennings a few years ago and this is where I became interested in his work/war propaganda films.

If anyone like Jenning's stuff, would highly recommend getting the DVD of Terence Davies' film "Of Time and the City" from last year. Saw it a couple of weeks ago - not only is it a similar style (and uses some of his clips), but it's got a full copy of "Listen to Britain" on it in the extras.
